How to Change Streaming Quality

Plex is generally a useful streaming tool. However, there are still some settings that are changed for remote users. One of which is the default resolution of the Plex app.

By default, the Plex web app, phone app, and smart TV apps default to 720p when streaming from outside their own home network. This is luckily changeable.

 

Before we start changing the options to Unlimited, we should probably determine which resolution and setting is best for you. There are a number of factors that come into play.

  1. Internet speed.
  2. The device playing Plex.
  3. Your taste in quality.

The best place to start and the most important is internet speed.

  1.  Go to the website, https://speedtest.net to find out your internet speed.
  2. There will be a "Go" button
